Welcome to HCPOA.org
We are a multi-purpose organization representing the interests of Howard County’s Police Officers. The men and women of our organization work tirelessly to provide a sense of safety and security to all who would call Howard County “home”. The Howard County Police Officers’ Association is comprised of some of the finest Law Enforcement Professionals in the country; their outstanding work ethic, dedication to the ideals of policing, and integrity beyond reproach are second to none.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The Memorial Service began in 1982 as a gathering in Senate Park of approximately 120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Decades later, the event, more commonly known as National Police Week, has grown to a series of events which attracts tens of thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to our Nation’s Capital each year. The Memorial was officially dedicated on October 15th, 1991.
Engraved on the memorial are the words of President George H. W. Bush, “Carved on these walls is the story of America, of a continuing quest to preserve both democracy and decency, and to protect a national treasure that we call the American dream.”

The Howard County Police Officers’ Association Lodge 21 partners with the Howard County Police Supervisors’ Alliance and the Centurions for Justice to host fundraising events that make charitable contributions to various organizations and programs throughout the County, to include the Howard County Police Foundation’s Youth Programs and the NAACP’s Youth Initiatives. The Howard County Police Officers’ Association Lodge 21 believes that we are only as effective as our partnerships and we are excited to work closely with our community partners to positively impact youth in Howard County.
